Middleton to Dufton ... The final stretch ... This time

Today was a long 32k walk, more than Sherpas estimated 17 mile.

After a good evening with Chris and a cooked breakfast at Brunswick House we set off. There most dramatic walk of the week with waterfalls on the Tees and High Cup which is a spectacular valley.

Our landlady at Dufton B&B was singularly unimpressed with our 'late' arrival of 8pm! Good food at the Stag Inn.

Next day was home by lift to Appleby (big fat gypsy weddings fame) and bus and train from Penrith.

Until next time... Blogging off for now.

Tan Hill to Middleton on Tees

Sad to leave Martin at Tan Hill Inn. A long slog across moorland today with the trail quite hard to follow in places.

High winds made it even more bleak. Eventually we came to a reservoir and the landscape changed to pleasant Dales again before coming down to Middleton.

Had a good evening with Chris who packed his 5 kids and dog into the car for a two hour drive to come see us. Thanks Chris hope you'll join us for a stretch next time.

Hawes to Tan Hill

Tough day today with driving rain all the way up Great Shunner Fell but after that the weather improved and great views of the Dales.
A little diversion to Hawdraw Force waterfall.

We say goodbye to Martin today who's been great company. Thanks for joining us hope to see you when we have another outing.

Very glad to finally get to Tan Hill, highest inn in Britain

Horton to Hawes

Good weather for this stretch over to Hawes with good views over to Ribblehead Viaduct (in Harry Potter movie). One particular high path suddenly turned into a motorway for logging lorries ...

Wednesday looks to be a tough day though with a change to the weather.

Goodbye to Ray. You've been great company. Thanks for joining us you've left before the going gets tough.

On my way to Yorkshire

Getting the train up north. Glad I haven't got to carry this bag on the pennine way. Sherpa was a great idea!
